Admission Requirements
The applicant must have a strong interest in music and musical instruments, a clear goal for studying abroad, and must meet one of the language criteria below.
1Applicant must be at least 18 years old , and has
completed , or is expected to complete , a 12 year education ( or the equivalent of a senior high school
education ) as of April 1st 2024.
2Applicant must have sufficient Japanese language ability
in order to participate in the course , and must meet one of the be ow language criteria :
a . Japanese Language Proficiency Test ( JLPT ) N1 or N2 .
b . Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students ( EJU ) above 200 .
c. Japanese language education with a good record and attendance of at least 6 months or more , at an institution
approved by the Minister of Justice .
d . Business Japanese Proficiency Test ( BJT ) above 400 .
e . Completing more than 1 year of education at an institution prescribed in Article 1 of the School Education Act.
We also offer a pre-MI admission program for international students who are academically qualified to apply but have insufficient Japanese language ability.
This program is an opportunity for you to study Japanese for at least six months at one of our partner Japanese language schools, to obtain the required Japanese language proficiency and the ESP scholarship IV.

3Applicant must have sufficient funds to pay for the
tuition fle as well as living expenses .
Types of Admission
AO Admission ( Early Admission )
Applicants must meet the minimum requirements for enrollment and may also have to attend open campus , campus
tours , or summer programs . The entry and application periods for AO Admission for April 2024 enrollment is as
follows.
Entry Period
June 1st – September 30th
Application Period
September 1st – October 21st
Regular Admission
Applicants must meet the minimum requirements for enrollment . The application period for Regular Admission is as
follows.
Application Period
October 2nd – March 9th
*For overseas applicants: October 2nd – November 25th
Overseas Applicants ( no status of residence in Japan )
- Application Submissions
- Submitting the application and all required documents by the application deadline .
- Entrance Examination
- After document screening , applicants will need to take the entrance examination , which
includes a written examination and an interview . The entrance examination can also be done online .
- Result Notifications
- Approximately two weeks after the entrance examination , applicants will be notified of their results .
- Enrollment Procedures
- To complete the enrollment , applicants will need to submit all required documents and prepare for the
tuition payment by the indicated deadlines .
- Applying for a “Certificate of Eligibility”
(COE)
- After confirming the appropriate documents are submitted and necessary procedures are completed , we will
apply for the COE on the applicants behalf .
- Tuition Payment
(February)
- Once the COE is granted , and tuition payment is received , we i will send the COE to the applicant . This
will be used by the applicant to apply for a student visa at the Japanese embassy / consulate in their
respective countries .
- Obtaining a College Student Visa at your local Japanese Embassy or Consulate
(March)
- Entry into Japan
(March)
- After arriving in Japan , you will be issued a Residence Card ( Zairyuu Card ) at the airport , or in some
cases will have it sent to your registered address at a later date .
- Entrance Ceremony & Start of School Year
(April)
- After all necessary enrollment procedures are completed , candidates will be notified of the details
regarding the Entrance Ceremony as well as the start date of classes .
Domestic Applicants ( currently residing in Japan )
- Applying to MI TOKYO(June~Mid March)
- Submitting the application and all required documents by the application deadline .

Pre-MI Japanese Program
MI Tokyo offers pre-MI Japanese Program to academically qualified applicants who would like to improve their Japanese proficiency prior to admission. To support such prospective international students, MI Tokyo can introduce various Japanese language institutes which prospective students can consider applying for.
The applicant will submit proof of their admission into the language school , and we can process their application to Mi Tokyo as conditional admission.
